Join Volunteer Team

Ready to make a real difference in the lives of people in Uganda?

We're looking for passionate volunteers to join our team for The Health of a Population is Epidemiological Transition (HOPIET), a vital five-year project in Sheema District, Western Uganda. This initiative is all about understanding and tackling the rise of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) like diabetes and hypertension as Uganda's economy grows.

What You'll Do

You'll be on the front lines, helping us make a tangible impact. We need volunteers to:

  • Teach and train health workers on the management of diabetes and other NCDs.
  • Support health centers in their daily operations.
  • Participate in electives, gaining invaluable hands-on experience in public health research and community-based care.

Why Volunteer with Us?

Uganda is undergoing a unique economic and health transition. By volunteering with HOPIET, you'll be part of a team studying this critical moment, helping us understand everything from the long-term effects of past famine to how modern lifestyle changes are influencing health. This is a chance to apply your skills in a real-world setting, contribute to groundbreaking research, and truly help a community thrive.

This is more than just a volunteer opportunity; it's a chance to be part of a pioneering study that will shape public health policy in Uganda for years to come. Your work will directly help inform targeted interventions and improve the health of an entire population.
